A hush settles as Azhar, his eyes sharp and thoughtful, stands hidden in an alley. The cool air is thick with anticipation. Behind him, Kamarul checks their watch, while their third partner, Fadilah, surveys the building’s security from behind a newspaper on a nearby bench. The three share a quiet nod, their purpose unspoken but clear.
Fadilah, with her steady hands, traces a finger along their planned route. "We’ll have ten minutes between patrols. Azhar, you take the lead—your agility is our best shot at this." Kamarul leans in, voice low and urgent. "Once you’re inside, signal us. I’ll monitor the cameras, Fadilah will keep watch on the street." They exchange determined glances, the weight of their mission settling on their shoulders.
Azhar slips from the shadows, moving swiftly along the building’s edge. Each step is calculated, avoiding the pools of light cast by motion sensors. Fadilah murmurs into a walkie-talkie, "All clear, Azhar. Go now." With a final glance at the flag fluttering above, Azhar begins his ascent, heart pounding in his chest.
Azhar moves like a shadow past the sleeping guard, careful not to disturb the silence. Kamarul whispers through the earpiece, "You’re almost at the stairwell. Take the left—security’s looped for another three minutes." Above, the flag’s fabric shimmers in the faint glow, calling him onward.
Azhar reaches the flagpole, hands trembling as he works to untie the knots. The fabric is heavier than he expected, weighted with its own history and meaning. As he lowers it, Fadilah’s voice crackles with excitement, "You did it, Azhar! Get back down, quick!" The city seems to hold its breath as he tucks the flag under his arm and disappears into the stairwell.
Kamarul leads the way, checking over his shoulder for any sign of pursuit. Fadilah clutches Azhar’s arm, relief and adrenaline mingling in her eyes. "We made our point tonight," Kamarul murmurs, pride coloring his voice. The flag, safe for now, glows softly in the morning light—a symbol reclaimed, a new story just beginning.
