As I stepped off the plane, my heart raced with excitement. I’m Iggy, the iguana from sunny Mexico, and now I was in Canada! The cold air nipped at my green scales, and I shivered, realizing I was far from my warm home. Around me, the world was blanketed in a sparkling layer of snow, twinkling like a million tiny stars. I squinted against the brightness, taking in the sights—tall pine trees stood proudly, their branches heavy with white fluff, and the ground was a glistening sea of white.
Just then, I heard a rustling sound. Out from behind a tree came Benny, a friendly beaver with a big, bushy tail and bright, curious eyes. He looked at me with surprise and said, "Well, hello there! What brings a little iguana like you to the snowy north?" I smiled, feeling the warmth of his welcome.
Benny began to show me the wonders of winter. “You’ll love this!” he exclaimed. He led me to a shimmering pond, its surface smooth as glass. "Just push off with your back legs and glide!" I watched as Benny expertly slid across the ice. Nervously, I tried to mimic him. With a little push, I flew forward, and for a moment, I felt weightless! “I did it!” I shouted, my heart soaring with joy.
As the day turned to dusk, Luna, a majestic snowy owl, swooped down from her perch. Her feathers were as white as the snow, and her eyes sparkled like two bright moons. "What a delightful party we have here!" she hooted. I felt a little shy but excited to meet her. “I’m Iggy, and I’m learning about snow!” I replied, my voice full of enthusiasm.
That evening, we gathered in Benny’s cozy den. The scent of pine surrounded us, and I felt warm and safe. "You know, it was scary at first coming here," I admitted. "But with friends like you, I’m starting to love it!" Benny chuckled, "Winter can be wonderful if you embrace it!" Luna nodded, "And there's so much beauty in change, dear Iggy."
The next day, we stepped outside to find the world transformed. The sun lit up the snow like a million diamonds. I took a deep breath, feeling the cold air fill my lungs. "Let’s build a snow iguana!" I exclaimed. We spent the day laughing and playing, creating a snow replica of me, complete with a little hat! In that moment, I realized that home wasn’t just a place; it was the friends I made and the adventures we shared.
