"This money is for your education, my son. May you grow into a great person." The parent bowed gratefully, "May Allah bless you." Ameer smiled, "Ameen." Yet, in the shadows of a nearby stall, Saleem watched with a frown, his arms crossed in disapproval. "Why should we give away what we earn through hard work?" "What you’re doing, father, is not right."
"Where is everyone? Where am I?" Panic rose in his chest as he wandered aimlessly, the harsh wind whipping at his clothes. "I can’t figure out where I am… I’m going to die here in this desert… What a terrible fate!" His voice cracked with despair, echoing into the void. Hours passed, and exhaustion claimed him, pulling him into the depths of unconsciousness.
"Where am I?" he murmured, blinking against the gentle light filtering through the window. A kind face leaned over him—Abdullah, a farmer with eyes as warm as his smile. "You were lying unconscious in the desert. I brought you here. Your donkey is tied outside." Saleem recounted his ordeal, his voice tinged with both relief and disbelief. "I couldn’t find anyone from my group."
"What can I give you as a reward for saving my life?" he asked earnestly. Abdullah shook his head gently, "I didn’t help you expecting any reward. But let me tell you something else." A soft chuckle escaped his lips, "Your father, Ameer, sends food grains and other supplies to me every month." The revelation struck Saleem like a bolt of lightning, his cheeks flushed with shame.
"Father, please forgive me," he said, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "From now on, I will also help the poor." Ameer looked at his son, pride and warmth radiating from his eyes. "I knew you would find your way, my son." The two embraced, the bond between them stronger than ever, united by generosity and understanding.
"It's beautiful, isn't it, Father?" he said softly, his eyes reflecting the twinkling lights above. Ameer nodded, "Indeed, it is. And so is the path you've chosen." Together, they looked towards the future, the night whispering promises of hope and kindness, the guiding stars of their journey.
