Marcus stood at the entrance, his heart racing with the thrill of discovery. The promise of untold riches lay within, glinting faintly in the darkness. He hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, driven by an insatiable curiosity.
Marcus marveled at the treasure before him, his eyes wide with wonder. "I've never seen anything like this," he breathed, reaching out to grasp a handful of coins. As he did, a deep, resonant voice echoed through the chamber, a warning that sent shivers down his spine.
The voice spoke again, "Take only what you need, and no more, lest your greed be your undoing." Marcus paused, the weight of the warning hanging heavy in the air. Yet, the allure of wealth was too strong to resist.
Marcus ignored the voice, driven by a desire to claim as much as he could carry. He stuffed his pockets with jewels, oblivious to the increasing tremors beneath his feet. "Just a little more," he muttered to himself, his heart pounding with greed-fueled excitement.
Marcus stumbled, panic gripping him as the reality of his situation set in. "I have to get out of here!" he cried, abandoning his hoard as he scrambled towards the exit. The path ahead was blocked by falling rocks, the cave collapsing around him.
Marcus pushed forward, adrenaline fueling his desperate escape. As he reached the cave mouth, a final, massive boulder crashed down, sealing the entrance behind him. He emerged, breathless and shaken, the forest peaceful once more. The lesson of the cave lingered in his mind, a reminder of the price of greed.
