Mia stretched her arms wide and yawned, ready to check her favorite game on her tablet. But when she reached for it, the screen remained stubbornly blank. Confused, she wandered downstairs to find her mom, who was also perplexed by the lack of Wi-Fi. "What's happening, Mom?"
Leo and Sophie, Mia's best friends, soon joined her outside, each with the same problem. "My tablet doesn't work either!" Leo exclaimed, his freckled face scrunched in bewilderment. "Mine too!" Sophie added, her pigtails bouncing as she spoke.
Mia led the way, her eyes scanning for any clues. Sophie noticed a group of kids playing tag and pointed, "Look, maybe we can join them!" Leo was hesitant at first but eventually nodded, "It might be fun," he admitted.
As they ran through the grass, laughter filled the air. Mia realized how much she enjoyed the simple joy of playing outside.
Leo paused by a large oak tree, its branches stretching towards the sky. "This tree looks like a good place to rest," he suggested. They settled beneath it, and Mia began telling a story she made up on the spot about a dragon who lived in a castle made of candy.
Sophie, captivated, added her own twist, "And the dragon had a best friend who was a wizard with a magical broom!"
Mia felt a warmth in her heart, realizing how much fun she'd had without any screens. "I didn't know we could have so much fun just by playing outside," she mused aloud.
Leo nodded in agreement, "Yeah, we should do this more often," while Sophie added, "I can't wait to tell more stories tomorrow!"
Mia waved goodbye to her friends, feeling content and fulfilled. Her mom greeted her at the door, "Did you have a good day?" she asked, a knowing smile on her face.
"The best!" Mia replied, realizing that while the Wi-Fi might return tomorrow, the memories they made today would last forever.
