Flugals MaGee, a young blonde girl with an insatiable curiosity, peered past the trees of the neighbors yard. Her eyes, bright with wonder, locked onto the lake beyond. Mesmerized by the shimmering water "I wonder what adventures await me in there today," she mused, her heart beating with excitement. Catching frogs and petting fish were certainly on the agenda.
Flugals MaGee headed down the street on this warm summer evening. She was on her way to the water's edge to look for some frogs. She had a net in one had and a large jar in the other. She never wore shoes as she walked around the neighborhood, which drove her grandma nuts. "Are you going to put some shoes on?" Her grandma would yell from the garage. "No need!" She would say over her shoulder as she scurried off. The air was sticky and humid. Flugals had a pep in her step as she walked down the street toward the park that bordered the water. This was the best place to catch frogs.
As the park came into view Flugals picked up the pace and jogged to the water's edge, excited to find a slimy friend. Since she already had no shoes on, she headed straight into the water. Stopping ankle deep to inspect the area. There was algae and lily pads all around her. As she scanned the nearest area, out of the corner of her eye she saw an eyeball and a shiny green head.
Flugals MaGee had done it again! She caught her very own frog. Mr. Bubbles she decided would be his name. She carefully unscrewed the top to her jar, that already was prepared with grass and sticks. When Mr. Bubbles was placed inside and seemed to find a comfortable spot, she put the lid with holes on the top back on the jar and skipped the entire way home.
Flugals MaGee was running a little late for dinner. Grandma says when the water sparkles like diamonds with the setting sun, that means it's time for dinner at the MaGee household. She skipped up the driveway and into the kitchen. She hid the jar with Mr. Bubbles behind her back as she walked to the table. She was determined to keep her new pet by her side, but her family could not know.
