Riya nearly bounces in place, her backpack jostling as she gazes up at the glass dome overhead, clusters of butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
"I can't wait to see what's inside!"
The polished floor reflects a massive, shiny globe at the entrance, its continents shimmering in the bright light.
Riya steps forward, her fingers reaching out to trace the cool, smooth surface. As she touches it, the world seems to tilt, and a beam of dazzling light pours from the globe, wrapping her in its golden glow.
"Whoa—what's happening?"
The sounds of her classmates fade away, replaced by a pulsing hush.
Riya[/@ch_1] stands in a dim, sand-colored chamber. Ornate Egyptian columns rise on either side, and glass cases display golden masks, scarabs, and papyrus scrolls. Giant statues of lions and pharaohs line the walls, their jeweled eyes glinting.]
Riya's heart races as the statues begin to shift and move, stone paws scraping gently across the floor. The air buzzes with ancient magic, and shadows dance along the hieroglyph-etched walls.
"Am I... dreaming?"
Riya[/@ch_1] glances around, mind whirring. She spots a faded map of Egypt pinned to the far wall, its edges curling with age, rivers and pyramids marked in ink.]
She paces slowly, examining a riddle carved beneath the map, her reflection shimmering in a polished shield nearby.
"There must be a clue here—something to help me get back,"
her voice bounces off the sandstone, determination flickering in her eyes.
Riya[/@ch_1] steps through, emerging into wildly different rooms: one filled with towering dinosaurs, bones looming overhead; another with astronauts floating in zero gravity, stars twinkling outside a porthole; and a gallery where paintings shift and swirl, their subjects reaching out from gilded frames.]
Each room hums with its own energy, and Riya soaks in the wonder, her footsteps echoing from one era to another.
"Every room is like a puzzle... but where does it all lead?"
Riya[/@ch_1] stands before an imposing, locked door in a shadowy hallway. Gold symbols glitter on its surface, and a final riddle is inscribed above: 'Name the journey that brings you home.' The room is silent except for her steady breathing.]
She closes her eyes, remembering the globe, her school, and the wonder of discovery.
"It's curiosity. Curiosity brings me home,"
she declares, smiling as the door swings open and light floods in.
Riya[/@ch_1] finds herself back in the museum lobby. The globe stands silently on its pedestal, and her classmates cluster around a teacher who consults a clipboard, unaware of her absence.]
Riya grins, her heart still pounding from the adventure. She glances one last time at the globe, its surface now winking knowingly in the afternoon sun.
"Best school trip ever,"
she whispers, tucking the memory away as the group moves on.
