Aryan tiptoed through his grandfather's library, eyes wide with curiosity. He paused by a towering bookshelf and pulled aside a heavy curtain of cobwebs, revealing a hidden nook filled with dusty old scrolls. As he reached for one, it unfurled in his hands, revealing an intricate treasure map. "A treasure map!" he exclaimed, his heart racing with excitement.
Aryan dashed over to his best friend Laksh's house, the map clutched tightly in his hand. Laksh, known for his love of puzzles, eagerly joined him. "Let's see what this says," he said, as they spread the map on the ground.
"Add 10 to your years and divide by 2. Follow this distance east to the banyan tree," Aryan read aloud, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Aryan and Laksh calculated the distance—eleven steps east—and began their journey. Each step echoed with the crunch of dry leaves beneath their feet as they approached the grand banyan tree, its roots sprawling like ancient serpents.
"Here's the next clue!" Laksh announced, pointing at a small, weathered plaque nestled among the roots.
Aryan read the clue aloud: "Multiply the number of your fingers by 3. Move this many steps south to the riverbank."
Laksh beamed with understanding. "Thirty steps to go!" he declared. They followed the clue, counting each step in unison until they reached the gurgling edge of the river.
Aryan and Laksh stood at the riverbank, reading the last clue with bated breath. "Take half the steps of your journey so far. That’s where the treasure lies," Aryan murmured.
Laksh quickly did the math, "Twenty and a half steps. Let's go!" They moved cautiously, counting twenty steps, then added a small hop for the half-step.
Their hands struck something solid—a wooden chest, worn but sturdy. Aryan and Laksh pried it open to reveal a beautifully bound book titled "The Secrets of Mathematics." Inside, they found stories of their village's rich history, connecting their families to generations of explorers and scholars.
"It's more than just treasure," Aryan whispered, a new understanding dawning in his eyes.
"It's the key to everything," Laksh replied, as they shared a triumphant smile, their friendship stronger than ever.
