Milo stood near the swings, arms crossed, watching Zara with a mix of curiosity and annoyance. "I bet you don't even know how to read a map," he sneered, kicking at the ground.
Zara, unfazed, flipped her long braid over her shoulder and glared back. "I know more than you think, Milo. Besides, this map isn't just any map. It's got symbols I've never seen before," she replied, holding up a weathered piece of parchment.
Milo snatched the map from Zara's hands, examining it closely. His eyes widened as he traced the intricate patterns. "This... this leads to the Enchanted Forest," he muttered, half to himself. "Exactly. And it says there's treasure there. I think it could change everything," Zara added, her voice tinged with excitement.
Milo hesitated, then handed the map back. "Fine. Let's see if you're right. But we're not friends," he warned, his tone softening slightly.
Milo and Zara trudged along the narrow trail, their earlier animosity ebbing away with each step. "Do you think the stories about this place are true?" Zara asked, glancing around nervously.
Milo shrugged, trying to mask his own unease. "There's only one way to find out," he replied. Together, they pushed forward, their shared goal slowly knitting them together.
Zara approached the pedestal, her heart racing. "This is it," she whispered, tracing the carvings with her fingers.
Milo joined her, a sense of awe washing over him. "The treasure must be here. But how do we unlock it?" he wondered aloud.
Zara closed her eyes, focusing on the warmth emanating from the pedestal. "I think it's about working together," she suggested, opening her eyes to meet Milo's gaze.
Milo nodded, understanding dawning on him. "Maybe that's the real treasure," he said softly, reaching out to place his hand beside hers.
Zara laughed, the sound ringing with genuine joy. "I guess we're friends now," she said, smiling at Milo.
Milo grinned back, feeling a warmth that had nothing to do with the pedestal's glow. "Yeah, I guess we are," he agreed, knowing that together, they could conquer anything.
