In a little mountain town nestled deep in the heart of Japan, there lived a brilliant girl named [Hayai]. She had big dreams, fast hands, and an even faster car — a shiny, cherry-red Datsun 240Z that she built all by herself.
Kobu, a cyborg with a heart of light and a thunderous, gentle voice, watched Hayai work. "Remember, little bolt, machines are like people—you must listen to them before you try to fix them." Hayai grinned, setting aside her wrench. "And if you love them enough, they’ll run forever, right?"
Kobu 's face winked with approval. "I am an old cyborg that may not last as long as you intend. My energy source is depleting rapidly." All of a sudden Kobu beams crashed around them. Sparks flew from his chest and his light dimmed, his voice a faint rumble. "Stay safe, my daughter..." His body slumped, eyes dimmed, and his metal body become cool to the touch. Hayai clung to him, tears failing to the floor.
Hayai wiped her cheeks, her voice trembling but fierce. "I’ll fix you, Kobu. I promise. I just need the right part." She spent weeks scanning through cyborg manuals and found a list. Her finger pausing on “hyperion capacitor.” Her heart pounded as she realized its impossible cost. She spent days racking her brain to come up with the dauting cost.
Hayai turned to her car and traced her Datsun’s curves, whispering, "You’re my only chance." She rolled up her sleeves, installing turbochargers and titanium exhaust pipes, painting “Hikari” in bold strokes along the door. The garage glowed with blue and red as she worked deep into the night.
Teki sneered, "A little girl in a grandpa car? You’re out of your depth!" Hayai only smiled, sliding behind the wheel. "Let’s ride." The starter’s flare lit the darkness, and tires screamed as the race began.
Hayai slammed the accelerator, drifting perfectly past the line as the crowd erupted. She drifted through the turns as her rear tires absorbed the road. Her car become one with her as her turbos screamed through the track and into the moonlight racing through the mountains she used to gaze upon in her daydreams.
Kobu opened his eyes, his voice tender. "Hayai?" Hayai hugged him tightly, her words muffled against his chest. "You’re back, Kobu."
Okotsu , a racer that lost to her came to her garage and shouted, "Let’s see you race now!" Hayai scrambled to protect Kobu, but the heat forced her back, fear knotting her stomach.
"You will not touch my daughter," thundered Kobu, scattering the attackers with a single energy burst from his hands. The flames flickered out as the invaders fled into the night, leaving the garage in peace once more.
