Tyrie bounced on his toes, his eyes wide with excitement as he waited by the door. Today was the day he had dreamed of for as long as he could remember. His heart raced with joy, imagining the soft fur and wagging tail of his very own puppy.
Tyrie ran outside, his sneakers crunching on the gravel. He watched as his dad stepped out of the truck, holding a small crate. Inside, a pair of bright eyes met his. "Is that him?" Tyrie asked, his voice barely a whisper.
Tyrie knelt down as his dad opened the crate. Out bounded a tiny, golden-furred puppy, its tail wagging like a flag in the wind. Tyrie laughed, the sound bubbling up from his chest. "Hello, little guy! What's your name?"
As the puppy scampered around the yard, Tyrie sat cross-legged, thinking hard. "I'll call you Buddy," he decided, grinning as the puppy tumbled over his shoelaces. The name felt just right, as if they had known each other all along.
Tyrie lay on the grass, Buddy curled up beside him. Tyrie whispered stories of adventures they would have, from chasing squirrels to exploring hidden corners of the backyard. "We'll be the best of friends," he promised, feeling Buddy's heartbeat against his side.
With Buddy snuggled against him, Tyrie knew this was the start of something wonderful. His world felt bigger, brighter, with Buddy by his side. As he drifted off to sleep, he dreamed of the countless adventures that awaited them, feeling a warmth in his heart that only a true friend could bring.
