Emily, a curious seven-year-old girl with a pink sun hat, clutches her parents’ hands tightly, her eyes wide with excitement. Her mother, patient and smiling, checks the map, while her father snaps photos of the colorful zoo entrance.
"Can we see the giraffes first? I want to see how tall they are!"
"Let's check the map and find the quickest way to the giraffe enclosure," her mother suggests, unfolding the brightly colored guide.
Her father points out a group of flamingos, their vivid pink feathers glowing in the sunlight. Emily skips ahead, enchanted by every new animal she sees, but her gaze always searches for the tall silhouettes of giraffes.
"I think I saw their long necks over there!" she calls, darting a little farther ahead, her footsteps quick and eager.
Emily follows the butterfly, giggling as it dances around her, and strays from the main path. Within moments, the sounds of her parents fade, replaced by the distant trumpeting of elephants and the chirping of birds overhead.
"Mom? Dad?" she calls, her voice trembling as she realizes she’s alone.
"Emily! Emily, where are you?" her mother calls, her voice growing more desperate.
"Let’s find a zoo staff member. She couldn’t have gone far," her father says, trying to remain calm as they hurry toward a nearby information booth.
Officer Martinez, the security guard, nods reassuringly. "We’ll help you find her right away. Let’s check the cameras near the giraffe enclosure," he suggests.
Emily, meanwhile, sits on a bench near the giraffes, tears brimming in her eyes, comforted by a kind zookeeper who offers her a tissue and a gentle smile.
"Emily! Oh, we were so worried!" her mother exclaims, kneeling to hug her tightly.
"I’m sorry, I got lost. But I found the giraffes!" Emily sniffles, clinging to her parents.
"We’re just glad you’re safe. Let’s go home and tell grandma all about your adventure," her father says, smiling as the family walks hand in hand toward the exit, the memories of the day lingering warmly in their hearts.
