Meg let herself in, her footsteps echoing softly up the stairs as she called out, "Hello, it's me! I'm here!" Down in the kitchen, Paige stood waiting, her hands wrapped around a warm mug of coffee, a gentle smile ready for the day. The aroma of toast and fresh fruit filled the air, promising a good start.
"Good morning, Meg, and how are you?" "Doing good. Is Jass awake?" "Yep, she's waiting on you. We're heading out today. You know Jass is excited. She's in her room waiting for you." Meg made her way to Jasmine's room, where sunlight danced across cheerful posters and a collection of plush animals. Jasmine grinned, her eyes bright with anticipation as Meg helped her up, bathed, dressed, and served her a breakfast of oatmeal and berries.
Paige double-checked the contents of Jasmine's day bag, making sure her favorite water bottle was filled and tucked in the side pocket. Paige called out, "Alright, let's go!" Meg gently carried Jasmine down the stairs, her arms strong and steady, placing her carefully into her wheelchair before heading outside. The air was fresh, tinged with the scent of eucalyptus as the family loaded into the car, the wheelchair stowed securely in the trunk.
With the car rolling out of the driveway, Jasmine pressed her face to the window, watching the world blur by in shades of green and blue. Paige drove carefully down the hill, the city stretching out in the distance, while Meg chatted about their plans for the day. Excitement built as they approached the familiar gate leading out of their quiet neighborhood.
Jasmine beamed as Meg wheeled her inside, the bright lights and cheerful music making the store feel like a little world of its own. Mr. Rawls, with his signature apron and infectious grin, greeted them at the door. Mr. Rawls, ever the charmer, leaned down with a wink and offered Jasmine her favorite snack. "Got something special for you today, Jass—fresh out of the oven!"
Jasmine savored her snack, her cheeks flushed with happiness as she chatted with Mr. Rawls about the new treats in the bakery section. Meg helped select groceries while Paige smiled, watching her daughter glow with joy. The day had only just begun, but already the promise of more adventures shimmered in the air, as sunlight poured through the store windows and laughter followed them down each aisle.
