Ella blinked awake, excitement fluttering in her chest. Today was the day of her garden tea party, and she could hardly wait. She slipped out of bed, her bare feet padding across the wooden floor as she hurried to get dressed. The sunlight made everything look magical, and the promise of biscuits in every color and shape danced in her mind.
Ella pulled on her favorite yellow dress, tying the bow just so. She carefully packed a little basket with coins from her piggy bank and a folded napkin embroidered with daisies. Her mother smiled from the stove, tucking a curl behind Ella's ear before handing her a tiny purse. "Don’t forget to bring enough for your friends, darling. And watch for the bright red door at the bakery!"
Ella skipped down the lane, her basket swinging. She paused in front of the bakery, marveling at the rainbow of biscuits displayed: yellow circles, red triangles, green stars, and blue hearts. The smell of sugar and butter wrapped around her as she pushed open the door, the bell chiming overhead. Behind the counter, Mrs. Willowby, the kindly baker with flour-dusted hair, beamed at her.
"Good morning, Ella! Off for an adventure today?" Ella nodded eagerly, eyes wide as she surveyed the shapes and colors. "I’d like four biscuits, please! One yellow circle, one red triangle, one green star, and one blue heart. They’re for me and my friends—we’re having a garden tea party!" Mrs. Willowby wrapped each biscuit with care, slipping them into a striped paper bag.
Ella arranged the biscuits on a pretty plate, placing each one beside a teacup. Her friends soon arrived: Mia, shy and sweet in a blue cardigan; Sophie, giggling with a pink ribbon in her hair; and Lucas, always ready with a story. "These look beautiful, Ella!" "I want the green star! It matches the grass." "Let’s pretend we’re royal guests!"
Ella poured “tea” with a flourish, her heart light with happiness as her friends nibbled their chosen biscuits. "To the best tea party ever!" they all chimed, raising their cups high. The garden felt alive with joy, and for a moment, everything seemed as sweet and perfect as the biscuits they shared.
