Milly plopped down on the soft blanket, her eyes sparkling as she glanced at the feast before them. Bony kicked off his sneakers and stretched out, already reaching for a sandwich. Lily carefully arranged plates and cups, her hands steady and precise.
"I can't believe how perfect the weather is! The sun feels so warm on my face," Milly sighed contentedly.
Bony grinned mischievously as he balanced an apple on his head, drawing giggles from the others.
"Who dares challenge the king of apples?"
"If you can hold still for more than ten seconds, you deserve a crown!" Lily teased, her laughter infectious.
Milly knelt to investigate a patch of clover, her voice rising in excitement.
"Look, I found a four-leaf clover! Maybe it'll bring us extra luck today,"
"Or maybe it'll just get us extra dessert," Bony replied, winking.
Lily, usually the most composed, bursts into giggles as a cherry bounces off her nose and rolls away.
"I surrender! Clearly, this is not my hidden talent,"
"No worries, Lily. You can be the judge instead," Milly offered, scooping up the runaway fruit.
Bony stretched, folding his arms behind his head.
"Today feels like it's lasted forever, in the best way,"
"I wish every day could be this simple and happy," Milly murmured, her eyes tracing a cloud shaped like a heart.
Lily tied up the picnic basket, glancing fondly at her friends.
"Let's promise to come back soon,"
"You got it. Next time, I'll bring twice as many apples," Bony declared, as they walked home together, laughter trailing behind them like the last rays of sunlight.
