Jamie, a shy new student with bright blue sneakers, stands uncertainly by the doorway. As students chat in small groups, Jamie wonders if anyone will notice them today.
Alex, a friendly classmate with an infectious grin, spots Jamie sitting alone under the maple tree. "Hey, do you want to play soccer with us?" Jamie hesitates, glancing at the laughing group near the field.
Jamie nervously steps closer, listening as Alex introduces them to the others. Maya, the team captain, nods enthusiastically. "We could use another teammate! You can play with me," she says, handing Jamie the ball. Jamie feels a flutter of hope.

Jamie looks down, feeling embarrassed, but Alex jogs over. "It's okay, everyone makes mistakes," Alex encourages. Maya adds, "Let’s try again, together!" Smiles and high-fives from the group lift Jamie's spirits.
Jamie listens as Alex suggests a new strategy. "If we all help each other, we can score," Jamie offers, feeling bolder. The team nods, hands stacked in the center, united.
"We did it—together!" Maya shouts. Jamie laughs, feeling for the first time that they truly belong. "You’re a great teammate, Jamie. Friends?" "Friends," comes the delighted reply.
