Luna – The Space Cadet
Adventures to the Moon!
Luna loved the moon. She loved its silvery glow, its quiet magic, and the way it hung in the sky like a secret waiting to be discovered.
Every night, she pressed her nose to her bedroom window and whispered, “Someday, I’m coming to see you.”
And this morning… Luna had a plan.
She skidded into the kitchen, eyes sparkling. “Today’s the day!” she cried. “I’m going to the moon!”
Her mum, Astrid, smiled and shook her head. “Oh, Luna. I’m sorry, but you can’t go to the moon today… not until you’ve cleaned your room.”
“But Muuuum!” Luna groaned.
Astrid didn’t budge.
With a dramatic sigh, Luna marched upstairs. She didn’t tidy properly at all. She stuffed her toys under the bed, under the covers, and anywhere they would fit. Anywhere but where they belonged.
Her bed bulged with lumpy hills of books, bears and socks.
“I’m DONE!” Luna called.
Astrid stepped into the room and smiled. Just then, a pair of dirty socks tumbled from the bed.
Astrid laughed softly. “Oh, Luna. Where are you going to sleep when you come back from the moon?”
Luna’s shoulders drooped.
“Tidy your room properly,” Astrid said gently. “Then we’ll talk about the moon.”
But Luna didn’t want to tidy. Luna wanted to go to the moon.
She picked up her favourite book: How to Get to the Moon. She flipped straight to the best page.
Steps to Get to the Moon:
1. Close your eyes really, really tight.
2. Make a wish. (Don’t say it out loud.)
3. Count to five.
Luna squeezed her eyes shut. She wished and wished and wished. “One… Two… Three… Four… Five!”
Nothing felt different.
She peeked.
She wasn’t in her room anymore.
She was floating.
“AHHHHH!” screamed Luna.
A crackly voice burst from a radio. “Arriving at the moon in three… two… one!”
THUD! The rocket landed.
“The moon…” whispered Luna. “It really worked.”
She stepped outside and gasped.
The moon was bright and bouncy and beautiful. Luna bounced and bounced, flipping and giggling, leaping higher than she ever had before.
But after a while, the giggles faded.
Her tummy rumbled. Her bouncing slowed. And Luna suddenly felt very small.
“The moon is amazing,” she whispered, “but I really want to go home.”
She bounced back into the rocket and squeezed her eyes shut.
She wished. She counted. One… Two… Three… Four… Five!
She opened her eyes.
Still the moon.
“Oh no,” Luna whispered. “I only learned how to get here… not how to get home.”
This time, Luna didn’t wish for stars or rockets.
She thought about her mum. Her dad. Her bedroom. Her warm, cosy bed.
“All I want,” she whispered, “is to go home.”
She closed her eyes tighter than ever before. One… Two… Three… Four… Five.
“Luna! Dinner’s ready!” called Astrid.
Luna raced downstairs and hugged her mum tight, her face pressed into Astrid’s side.
“I love you all the way to the moon and back,” said Luna.
As Luna gobbled up every last bite, she smiled to herself, thinking how secret adventures to the moon made her very hungry.
After dinner, Astrid asked, “Did you finish your room?”
Luna smiled softly. “The moon can wait.”
Astrid laughed. “Oh, Luna.”
And that night, Luna slept very soundly… dreaming of stars, rockets, and a perfectly tidy room.
The End.

Adventures to the moon!
Todays the day” Cried Luna… “I’m GOING TO THE MOON….”. Luna’s mum Astrid looked at her and shook her head. “Oh Luna, I’m sorry… but you can’t go to the moon today…not until you’ve cleaned your room”.
_ “but Muuuum” but Astrid did not budge.
“Okaaaaaaay mum…. “and with that Luna ran upstairs and stuffed all of her belongings under her bed, in her bed… ANYWHERE but the floor!
_
Her blanket bulged and lumped with toys and clothes “I’m DONE… Can I go to the moon now, Mum! “
_
Luna heard her Mums footsteps coming up the stairs and jumped on the bed to hide the lumps and bumps.
_
“Wow Luna, this is looks great “ but no sooner had she said it dirty socks fell out of Lunas bed.
“Oh Luna… Now where are you going to sleep when you come back from the moon?”
_
Luna sighed… “ But Muuuuuum….” Luna cried. “No Luna, tidy your room PROPERLY and we can talk about going to the moon when you’re done… “said Astrid shaking her head walking back downstairs.

She ran downstairs and gave her mum a big hug. She looked up at her mum arms still wrapped around her “I love you, mum...”
“I love you, Luna all the way to the moon and back,” And they sat down to a beautiful family dinner. Luna shovelled food in very quickly, she’d built up quite an appetite on the moon.
-
“Luna, Did you finish your room” asked Astrid.
“That’s okay, Mum. I don’t want to go to the moon anymore.” Luna chuckled.
“Oh Lunnnna….” Astrid chuckled back.
