As the final bell rang, students poured out of the school, eager to start their weekend adventures. However, Tommy, a curious and somewhat forgetful twelve-year-old, lingered in the library, lost in the pages of a thrilling detective novel. Time slipped away, and by the time he noticed the silence, the school was empty. Panic set in as he realized he was alone, trapped within the now locked building.
Tommy decided to explore the school, hoping to find an open door or a window to climb through. As he walked, his footsteps echoed, amplifying the sense of isolation. "There must be a way out," he muttered, trying to calm his racing heart. The storm outside began to rage, lightning illuminating the darkened corridors with brief flashes of light.
Tommy stumbled upon a door he had never noticed before. Curious, he pushed it open and found a cluttered maintenance room. Among the tools and boxes, something caught his eye—a small window, partially hidden behind a stack of old chairs. He moved the chairs aside, "This might just be my ticket out," he thought with renewed hope.
With some effort, Tommy managed to pry the window open. The rain was coming down hard, but he didn't care. He squeezed through the narrow opening, feeling the cool rain on his skin. "Freedom!" he exclaimed, landing on the wet grass outside. He looked back at the school, relieved and a little more adventurous than before.
Tommy made his way home, a little wet but triumphant. "I guess I should pay more attention to the time," he chuckled to himself, thinking of the adventure he had just had. The world felt different now, more inviting and full of possibilities. He couldn't wait to tell his friends about the unexpected journey.
