Alas woke up to birds singing. The sunlight made him giggle as he stretched. Today felt special, he thought, looking around his fun room.
"Good morning, sunshine!" his mom said, smiling and pouring syrup on pancakes.
Alas felt happy. "Pancakes! My favorite!" he cheered, jumping in his seat.
Alas watched the rain, feeling sad. "I wanted to play outside," he said, shoulders drooping. His mom hugged him. "It's okay to feel sad, Alas. The rain will go away, just like your feelings," she whispered.
He felt angry. "Why won't it stay up!" he shouted, stomping his foot. His dad knelt beside him and picked up a block. "It's okay to feel angry. Let’s build it again together," he said, smiling and giving Alas the block.
As the afternoon went on, Alas felt sleepy. He snuggled on the couch with his blanket, yawning. "I feel so tired," he said, getting comfy. His mom tucked him in, stroking his hair. "Rest is good for you, sweetie," she said softly.
Alas jumped up, ready for fun. "Can we go to the park now?" he asked, bouncing on his toes. His parents smiled and nodded. "Yes, let’s catch the sunset together," his dad said, taking his hand.
Alas felt happy and calm. He understood that just like the sky, feelings come and go, and it’s okay to feel them. "I like the clouds. They remind me of my feelings," he said, looking at the stars.
