Alexia bounced on her toes, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Grammy, I want to have the best tea party ever! Can we use your pretty tea cups?" she asked, glancing at the delicate china displayed in the glass cabinet.
Grammy chuckled, her silver hair catching the sunlight. "Of course, my dear. Those tea cups have seen many lovely gatherings," she replied, reaching for a recipe book. "Let's decide on the menu too. How about some cucumber sandwiches and scones?"
Alexia nodded enthusiastically, her mind already racing with ideas for decorations and games.
Alexia carefully arranged the sandwiches on a floral platter, her tongue poking out in concentration. "These look perfect, Grammy!" she exclaimed, stepping back to admire their handiwork.
Grammy smiled warmly, patting Alexia's shoulder. "Well done, my little chef. Now, let's not forget the most important part," she reminded, a twinkle in her eye.
Alexia grinned, knowing exactly what her grandmother meant. "Inviting Grandpa!" she declared, rushing to find a phone.
Grandpa picked up after the second ring, his deep voice booming through the receiver. "Hello?" he greeted, a hint of surprise in his tone.
"Grandpa, it's Alexia! We're having a tea party, and you must come!" Alexia announced, her voice filled with anticipation.
Grandpa chuckled, clearly delighted by the invitation. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, sweetheart," he assured, promising to wear his finest suit for the occasion.
Alexia twirled in her dress, greeting each guest with a bright smile. The sound of laughter filled the air as everyone enjoyed the treats and tea.
Grandpa arrived, looking dapper in his suit, and Alexia ran to him with open arms. "You made it!" she exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
Grandpa hugged her back, his eyes twinkling with joy. "This is the most splendid tea party I've ever attended," he declared, taking a seat next to Grammy.
Grammy surveyed the scene with satisfaction, her heart full. "You've done a wonderful job, Alexia," she said softly.
Alexia beamed with pride, looking around at her family and friends. "I couldn't have done it without you, Grammy," she replied, grateful for the memories they had created together.
As the last of the guests waved goodbye, Alexia knew this was a day she would cherish forever.
