Lanny tapped his fork on his plate. 'Mama, where is everyone else?' Mama smiled softly and sat beside him. 'It's just you and me, sweetheart. Our family may be small, but that makes it special.'
Lanny looked up at Mama, his eyes full of curiosity. 'Why is it just us, Mama?' he asked, snuggling into her. Mama smiled warmly and wrapped her arm around him. 'Sometimes, people we love make choices that aren't the best for us,' she said softly. 'But we have each other, and that's what counts. Love is all around us, just like the stories we read together.'
"Look at the sky, Lanny," Mama said, her finger tracing the clouds painted in soft pinks and oranges. "It’s like the world is giving us a big, warm hug." Lanny giggled and squeezed her hand. "I like our hugs better," he said, snuggling close.
“Mama, you always say Jesus is with us. Is He here now?” Lanny asked, his eyes wide with wonder. Mama smiled softly and wrapped him in a hug. “Yes, my love,” she whispered. “He’s in our hearts, watching over us, and filling our home with love.” She kissed his forehead, her love wrapping around him like a blanket.
Lanny whispered sleepily, "Goodnight, Mama. Goodnight, Jesus." His words faded as he snuggled deeper into his pillow, his smile gentle and content. Mama looked at him, her heart full of love. "Goodnight, my precious boy," she murmured, knowing their little family was wrapped in all the love they would ever need.
