Alya held onto Grandma's hand, her eyes wide with wonder as they wandered past a myriad of shops. Suddenly, her gaze caught a glittery unicorn backpack, and without a second thought, she dashed off excitedly. "Oh, Alya, wait!" Grandma called, though her attention quickly diverted to a display of fuzzy socks. Meanwhile, Amirah waved at a robot cleaner, giggling as she tossed her pacifier, which landed perfectly on the robot's head. The family embarked on a pacifier hunt, led by Amirah's animated pointing and Alya's detective skills. After a thrilling chase, they found it nestled within the cascading indoor waterfall. "I guess it wanted to go swimming!" Alya giggled.
Alya bounced with excitement as she clutched her backpack, ready for show-and-tell. But as she rummaged through her bag, she realized with a shock that she'd mistakenly brought her pet rock, Rocky, instead of a sparkly bracelet. When she introduced Rocky to the class, her classmates erupted in laughter. "This is Rocky. He’s shy, but he loves pizza and naps," Alya declared confidently. By the end of the day, Rocky had a bed of tissues and a friendship bracelet, making Alya beam with pride.
Alya donned a safari hat and held binoculars (albeit upside down), ready for adventure. Amirah enjoyed a banana until a cheeky monkey snatched it mid-bite. "Oh no!" Grandma exclaimed, laughing, "That monkey is bananas!" The monkey teased them from a tree, prompting Alya and Sofiane to initiate a playful negotiation. After trading a bag of popcorn, the monkey graciously returned the banana, much to Amirah's delight.
Alya eyed her mashed potatoes and imagined snowy landscapes. With a creative twist, she sculpted a tiny snowman while Amirah squished spaghetti into a smiley face. The waiter, amused by their creativity, rewarded them with chocolate volcanoes, their delight bubbling over as they dug into the sweet treats.
The weekend brought Hassen and Sahbi, the girls' funny uncles, with kites and snacks. They laid out an old picnic blanket, its bubblegum scent mingling with the fresh air. A kite-flying contest ensued, with Sahbi's kite caught in a tree while Alya's soared. In a surprising twist, Grandma's flamingo kite swooped down, scaring off a squirrel eyeing their cookies. "Fly-mingo!" Amirah cheered, clapping in delight.
