Anna sat cross-legged on her bed, her big brown eyes bright as she sketched a smiling sun with her crayons. She wore her favorite light yellow dress, tiny white flowers scattered across the fabric, and her natural curls were tied into two pastel pink puff buns. The room felt warm and safe, filled with the gentle hum of a new day.
The little gray cloud whispered above Anna, curling like smoke in the quiet air. Its voice was soft but insistent, weaving through her thoughts: "What if something goes wrong today?" Anna’s smile wavered as her hand paused, a shiver of unease twisting inside her. The once-bright room now felt a little colder, the cloud’s presence like a gentle drizzle on a sunny day.
When the teacher called her name, Anna’s cloud puffed bigger, its gray edges swirling with worry. "What if you say the wrong thing?" it whispered, making her tummy twist and her hands tremble. The bright classroom blurred at the edges, and Anna squeezed her small Bible in her lap, wishing she could disappear under her desk.
That night, the cloud drifted closer, swelling with each creak of the house. "What if there’s a noise? What if something bad happens?" it murmured, wrapping her in a chilly haze of fear. Anna curled up tight, clutching her stuffed lamb and pulling the blanket to her chin, her eyes wide in the dim light.
The gentle voice of her teacher filled the room, Anna listening intently as she heard: "Give all your worries to God, because He cares for you." The words glowed in Anna’s heart, warming her from the inside. That afternoon, when the little cloud returned and whispered doubts, Anna hugged her Bible close and whispered back, "God cares for me." The cloud paused, surprised, and faded just a little.
Anna felt the cloud try to grow as she opened her mouth to read, but this time, she remembered what she had learned. She took a slow, steady breath. "Inhale… God is with me. Exhale… I am not alone." The cloud shrank, its gray edges softening as confidence bloomed in Anna’s chest.
Annasaw a little boy seating alone by the bench, she hesitated as her own cloud quivered, trying to whisper, "What if he doesn’t want to talk to you?" But Anna remembered God’s promises, took another brave breath, and walked over to the boy, Jacob "Hi. Do you want to play?" The other boy smiled and responded "yes, i do!", and Anna’s cloud shrank smaller than ever before, almost vanishing in the sunshine.
Anna realized something wonderful. The little gray cloud didn’t control her—her worries didn’t define who she was. God’s love was bigger and stronger than all her fears, and every time she prayed, breathed, and remembered His promises, the cloud faded away.
Sometimes, the little gray cloud still visited, drifting quietly in the corners of her day. But now, Anna knew just what to do. She whispered a prayer, remembered God’s words, and breathed deeply until the cloud floated away, replaced by courage and hope.
Because even when worries come, God’s love is always stronger. Anna is braver than she thinks, ready to face each day with a joyful heart.
