Ariya wakes up to the gentle hum of birds outside, her big eyes bright as she gazes at the braided patterns in her hair reflected in the mirror. She tiptoes across the soft carpet, careful not to disturb her sleeping little brother. Today, she tells herself, she will make everyone she meets feel special and seen.
Ariya slides onto her chair, legs swinging with excitement. She looks at her mom and dad, noticing how tired her mom’s eyes seem. "Thank you for making breakfast, Mama. It smells so yummy!" Her mom smiles, the warmth in her face returning as she pours syrup on Ariya’s plate.
Ariya spots a new girl standing at the edge, clutching her backpack. Instead of joining her usual group, Ariya walks over, her voice gentle and welcoming. "Hi! Do you want to play with me?" The new girl’s face shifts from worry to hope, and together they run to the swings.
When a classmate accidentally knocks over his pencil case, spilling colored pencils onto the floor, Ariya bends down to help. "Don’t worry, I’ll help you pick them up," she says, her fingers moving quickly. The teacher glances over, nodding in quiet approval as Ariya and her friend laugh together while gathering the pencils.
Ariya sits with two classmates, sharing a storybook. She makes sure everyone can see the pictures, turning the book so each person gets a chance to read a page out loud. "You did a great job reading that part! I like how you made the dragon sound so brave," she encourages, her eyes shining with genuine admiration.
As the day ends, Ariya hugs her little brother and cuddles close to her parents. "I love you all so much," she whispers, her heart full from a day spent spreading kindness. The room is quiet, filled with the peace that comes from loving and respecting everyone—at home, at school, and everywhere in between.
