Bambi, a young brown shorthaired miniature dachshund with oversized curious eyes, wiggles excitedly in her snug hotdog costume, complete with a plush bun and mustard squiggle. Mamá and Papáare dressed as ketchup and mustard bottles—bright red and yellow outfits, with matching hats and cheerful smiles. As the trio steps into the bustling crowd for trick-or-treating, ghosts, witches, and skeletons swirl around them, laughter and music filling the air. "Do we really have to go? Some costumes are way too scary," Bambi whimpers, her tiny tail tucked between her legs. "You’re the cutest little salchicha out here, my Mami," Mama reassures, gently patting Bambi’s head. "We’ll stick together and get you all the treats you want," Papa adds, squeezing her paw.
Bambi tries to keep close to her parents, but as a sudden group of towering werewolves and cackling witches rush by, she’s jolted aside. Her heart pounds as she loses sight of the familiar ketchup and mustard costumes. All around, monstrous masks and giant spiders loom, their shadows stretching across the pavement. "Mamá? Papá?" Bambi’s voice trembles, drowned out by rattling chains and shrill giggles.
Determined to be brave, she remembers her parents' words and starts her journey home. She tiptoes past a vampire with glowing fangs, her tiny paws shaking, and ducks under floating ghosts strung across a gate. Somewhere, a skeleton’s hand reaches for her candy bag, but Bambi scurries away, clutching her treats. "I just have to find the big red and yellow bottles," she mutters, her nose twitching as she sniffs for the familiar scent of her family.
She pauses beside a house glowing with orange lanterns, gathering her courage. A group of older kids, dressed as pirates, notice her trembling and offer her a chocolate bar. With a shaky smile, Bambi thanks them and presses on, determined not to let her fear win. She recalls her parents’ promise to stick together, and with every step, she grows a little braver.
Bambi races up the steps, her hotdog costume bouncing with each leap. Inside, Mamá and Papá sit on the couch, faces streaked with tears, clutching each other in worry. When they see Bambi, their cries turn to laughter and joyful sobs as they scoop her into their arms. "We were so scared! You’re so brave, Bambi," Mama exclaims, hugging her tightly. "You found your way home all by yourself. We’re so proud of you," Papa whispers, kissing her forehead.
Bambi snuggles between her parents, her fears faded away, replaced by pride and comfort. As she sinks into sleep, safe and loved, she knows that even the scariest nights are no match for a brave heart—and a family that always finds its way back together.
