Benny the Bunny wakes up in his cozy burrow, stretching his long ears and blinking at the sunlight. Today, he feels a flutter in his tummy. He wishes he could be brave like his friends, but sometimes, Benny gets scared easily—even when there’s nothing scary at all.
Milo the Mouse calls out, "Let’s hop over the creek and find the hidden blueberries!"
Benny fidgets with his paws. He remembers the creek’s slippery stones and the big, noisy crows that sometimes swoop overhead. "I... I’m not sure," he whispers, his nose twitching. The other animals are already hopping away, leaving Benny behind with his worries.
Benny sits quietly, watching the water rush by. His heart beats fast. He wants to join his friends, but he can’t stop thinking about slipping or being laughed at. As he sits, Sally the Squirrel scampers up, her bushy tail flicking.
"Are you okay, Benny?"
"I want to cross, but I’m scared," Benny admits, his eyes wide and worried.
"It’s okay to feel scared," Sally replies kindly. "Sometimes, being brave means trying even when you’re scared."
Benny takes a deep breath and steps carefully onto the first stone. It wobbles a little, and Benny’s ears stand straight up. He glances back at Sally, who smiles encouragingly.
"You’re doing great! Just one hop at a time,"
Benny nods, focusing on each step. The water splashes gently, but Benny keeps hopping, his confidence growing with every leap.
Milo runs up, "Benny, you did it! You’re braver than you think!"
Benny feels his worries melt away. He smiles so wide his whiskers twitch, and his heart feels light and happy.
"I was scared, but I tried anyway. Maybe that’s what being brave is," he says, his eyes shining with pride.
Benny learns that everyone feels scared sometimes, but trying your best—even when you’re afraid—is what makes you truly brave. And with good friends by your side, every adventure becomes a little bit easier and a lot more fun.
