Benny the small turtle wakes up by the edge of the pond. His shell glistens in the sunlight, and his tiny legs stretch as he yawns. Today feels like a special day, even though Benny is the slowest turtle in the pond.
Benny sighs and wonders if he could ever be brave like the big turtles or fast like the frogs. "I wish I could be a hero too," he says, watching the clouds drift by. A gentle breeze ruffles the lily pads.
Penny the duck, Fritz the frog, and Sammy the snail greet Benny with happy smiles. "Good morning, Benny! Will you join us on an adventure today?" "I would love to," Benny replies, though he worries about slowing everyone down.
Milly the mouse looks frightened. "I can’t move! My tail is trapped!" Penny and Fritz try to help, but the branch is too heavy for them. Sammy is too small. Everyone looks at Benny, unsure what to do next.
Benny places his strong shell under the heavy branch. He pushes with all his might, even though he moves slowly. "Don’t worry, Milly. I’ll help you," he says gently. Bit by bit, the branch lifts, and Milly wiggles free.
"You did it, Benny! You’re the bravest turtle we know!" "Thank you for saving me," says Milly, hugging Benny’s shell. Benny feels proud and happy, knowing he helped a friend, even if he wasn’t the fastest.
Benny smiles, realizing that being brave doesn’t mean being the fastest—it means helping others and never giving up. He snuggles into his shell, ready for sweet dreams.
Being brave means believing in yourself and helping others, no matter how small or slow you are.
