Betty, a fluffy Bernese mountain dog with bright, curious eyes, sat by her food bowl, tail thumping against the tile. Cole, a sleek black lab with a shiny coat, nosed a rubber ball across the floor. Suddenly, they noticed that their little human brother, Walker, was nowhere to be seen.
"Cole, have you seen Walker? It's awfully quiet without him,"
"No, Betty, but maybe he’s playing hide-and-seek again. Let’s go find him!"
Betty sniffed the ground, her nose twitching as she followed the faint scent of peanut butter and crayons. Cole bounded ahead, careful not to trample the evidence.
"Look, Cole! Walker’s favorite red truck is here by the gate. He must have gone outside,"
"Let’s follow his trail! Maybe we’ll catch up to him before he gets too far,"
With tails wagging, the two friends slipped out through the gate, determined to bring Walker home safely.
Cole paused, ears perked, listening for any sign of Walker. Betty spotted a blue cap tangled in a bush.
"He left his hat behind! That means Walker can’t be too far,"
"But which way did he go? There are so many paths,"
The forest seemed confusing, but Betty remembered the special whistle Walker always used to call them. They listened closely, hoping to hear it.
Cole barked excitedly, but hesitated at the puddle’s edge. Betty eyed the floating sock, realizing Walker must have tried to cross.
"That looks awfully messy, Betty. Do you think we can make it across without getting stuck?"
"We have to try! Walker might need our help,"
Taking a deep breath, Betty bravely splashed into the mud, with Cole close behind. Their paws slid and slipped, but together they made it through, shaking off the muck and laughing at their muddy coats.

Betty and Cole burst into the clearing, barking with relief. Walker looked up, a smile breaking through his worried face.
"Betty! Cole! I got lost and didn’t know which way to go,"
"Don’t worry, Walker. We found you! Let’s go home together,"
Walker hugged both dogs tightly, glad to have such brave, loyal friends.
Cole carried the muddy sock in his mouth, tail wagging. Betty walked proudly beside Walker, who giggled at their silly, dirty fur.
"You two are the best adventure buddies ever!"
"And you’re our favorite little brother, Walker,"
As they crossed the threshold, everyone knew they’d always be there for each other—no matter where their next adventure led.
