Billy, a scruffy golden retriever with bright eyes and a wagging tail, stretches luxuriously on his favorite rug. He yawns, blinking at the morning light, and sniffs the air, hoping for the scent of breakfast.
"Another perfect day for a walk… or maybe a nap," he thinks, padding toward the door.
Billy bounds outside, chasing a butterfly. Suddenly, a tingling sensation zips through his paws. He glances down, startled to see tiny sparks of blue light dancing around his toes.
"What’s happening to me?" he wonders, his ears perking up as he tries to shake the odd feeling away.
Curious, Billy steps into the puddle. To his amazement, instead of splashing, he hovers an inch above the water, his paws glowing with the same blue energy.
"Am I… floating?" His heart pounds with excitement as he realizes he’s not touching the ground at all.
Billy sprints and leaps—only to find himself soaring higher than ever before. He twists in midair, landing softly beside the oak tree, his tail wagging furiously.
"I have to show someone… but who would believe a flying dog?" His mind races with ideas as he zips around the yard, practicing his newfound skills.
Billy hears the cries and, without thinking, leaps the hedge in a single bound. He lands beside the trembling kitten, his blue paws lighting up the grass.
"Don’t worry, little one. I’ve got you," he assures the kitten, gently nudging it back toward safety.
Billy settles beside his favorite tree, his secret safe for now. He gazes at the stars beginning to appear, feeling proud and a little nervous about what tomorrow might bring.
"Maybe some secrets are meant for heroes," he muses, his eyes shining with hope for new adventures.
