Kayla watched over her little sister, Mina, as she played innocently on the swings. Despite the playful atmosphere, Kayla felt a twinge of unease, her eyes scanning the playground for any signs of trouble. Someone called out, "Hey Crybaby".
Jake, the leader of the group, smirked as he stepped forward, his friends snickering behind him. Kayla stood her ground, determination etched on her face. "What do you want, Jake?" she demanded, her voice steady despite the fear clawing at her insides.
Kayla"Leave my sister alone," she stated firmly. Jake chuckled, unfazed. "Or what? She's just a little kid," he taunted. Kayla"She's my sister," she retorted, her eyes blazing with resolve, "And I won't let you call her names or lay a finger on her."
"Maybe we should just go," Sara mumbled, shifting her weight uncomfortably. Jake shot her a glare, but Kayla seized the moment, "It's not worth it, Jake. Go find something better to do," she urged, her voice carrying both strength and a plea for peace.
Jake finally shrugged, gesturing for his friends to follow him. Kayla watched them leave, her heart pounding as adrenaline faded. She turned to Mina, who looked up with wide, admiring eyes. "You're so brave, Kayla," she breathed, wrapping small arms around her sister.
"I'll always protect you, Mina," Kayla promised, her voice tender. Mina nodded, resting her head against Kayla's shoulder. As they swayed gently in the fading light, the bond between them felt unbreakable, stronger than any challenge they might face.
