Milo hugged his blanket close, eyes wide as shadows began to dance on the walls. The room, usually so friendly, now seemed full of secret shapes. At the edge of his bed sat his new plush friend, Cincy, a round, cuddly creature with big twinkling eyes and soft, blue fur. Cincy looked so safe and huggable that Milo felt a little braver just having him nearby.
Cincy wiggled his tiny paws and smiled up at Milo. "Did you know, Milo, that the dark is just the world putting on its cozy pajamas?" Milo giggled, the sound echoing softly in the room. "But what if there are scary things hiding when it gets dark?" Cincy leaned closer, his fluffy ears twitching.
Cincy took a deep breath and exhaled, releasing a soft, sparkly glow that filled the room with trust and coziness. "Whenever you feel afraid, try taking a deep breath in and blowing out slowly, just like me. Imagine you’re blowing away the worries and filling the room with safe, happy light." Milo copied Cincy, breathing in deeply and puffing out a calming sigh.
Mom[/@ch_3], with a gentle smile, enters the room. She sits beside Milo, her hand warm and reassuring.]
"Did you know that when I was little, I used to be afraid of the dark, too?" Milo looked surprised. "One thing that helped me was making a 'Brave List' with my mom. We wrote down all the things that made me feel safe at night." Cincy nodded, "Would you like to do that together?"
With Mom's help, Milo draws a picture of his Brave List: hugging Cincy, turning on his nightlight, singing a quiet song, and making silly shadow animals on the wall. "Let’s put your Brave List by your bed, so you can see it every night," she suggests. Cincy encourages Milo to invent a bedtime routine: "Before sleeping, we can do three brave breaths, tell a joke together, and pick a star from your jar to keep under your pillow."
Milo nestles into his pillow, holding Cincy close, feeling brave and safe in the cozy dark. Shadows no longer seem so scary—they’re just part of the nighttime adventure. Cincy whispers, "I’ll always be here with you, Milo. The dark is just another place for dreams to grow." As Milo's eyes drift closed, he knows he’s never alone in the night, and that every shadow can become a friend.
