In a small, cozy bedroom full of toys and plush animals, Liam, a young boy with wide eyes and messy hair, lay tucked in his bed. The nightlight in the corner made funny shapes on the walls, but to Liam, those shapes looked a bit scary. “Iwish it wasn't so dark," he whispered, holding his favorite stuffed dragon close.
Suddenly, the nightlight flickered and went out, leaving the room all dark. The moonlight coming through the window made weird shapes on the ceiling, and it felt like the room had changed into a new world. Liam could hear an owl far away, its hoot making the shadows on the walls look like they were moving. “Mom, Dad,” he called, feeling scared and wanting them to come.
Liam’s mother entered the room, her shadow glowing softly from the light in the hallway. She sat on the edge of his bed, brushing his hair gently with her fingers. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" she asked softly. Liam looked up at her, feeling a little braver with her presence. "The dark feels like it’s full of monsters," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Liam’s mother smiled, a comforting warmth in her eyes. "You know, the dark can be a friend too," she explained. "It lets you dream and imagine all sorts of wonderful adventures." Her words painted pictures in Liam's mind, where the shadows became friendly giants and the moonlight a path to magical lands. He felt a little less afraid, the room growing cozier with each word.
With the nightlight now restored, Liam watched as the shadows resumed their playful dance on the walls. They no longer seemed threatening, but rather like gentle friends in the quiet night. "Maybe the dark isn't so bad," he declared, feeling a newfound courage. Liam’s mother kissed his forehead, "Exactly, my brave knight," she whispered, turning off the hallway light as she left the room.
Liam curled up in his blankets, his stuffed dragon snuggled next to him as he closed his eyes. His dreams were full of exciting adventures as he drifted off to sleep, feeling cozy and safe. Liam knew that the dark is peaceful, and nothing in it can hurt you.
