Buddy sighs and glances down at his two left paws, feeling his heart sink as he watches his family bustle around, preparing for the big day.
"What if I trip and everyone laughs at me?"
Buddy's ears droop, and he tries to hide, hoping no one will notice his absence.
"I wish I was like everyone else," he murmurs, staring at his mismatched paws.
Grandma notices Buddy’s worry and gently asks, "Buddy, what's troubling you, sweetheart?"
"I’m scared I’ll mess up the Paw-rade because of my two left paws," Buddy replies, his voice trembling.
"When your grandpa was your age, he too felt awkward. He was afraid of being different—his ears were too floppy, and he thought he’d never fit in. But one day, he decided to join the parade anyway. At first, he stumbled and everyone noticed, but then something magical happened. Everyone cheered for him, not because he was perfect, but because he was brave."
"Did Grandpa really do that?" Buddy asks, hope blooming in his eyes.
"You’re ready, Buddy. Remember—being different makes you special," Grandma says, nudging him forward.
"I think I can do it," Buddy replies, stepping out with newfound confidence.
Buddy wags his tail as children shout, "Go Buddy! You’re the bravest dog in the parade!"
As the parade ends, Buddy snuggles up to Grandma, grateful for her story and for finding courage within himself.
