Gabriela lay sprawled across her bed, her eyes wide open and filled with curiosity. Despite a day full of energetic play, from chasing butterflies to bouncing in her jumping castle, sleep seemed a distant possibility. Beside her, Emily, with a comforting smile, sat on the edge of the bed, wondering how to ease her niece's restless mind.
Emily watched as Gabriela turned to her, eyes sparkling with unquenchable curiosity. "Aunt Emily, why is the moon so bright, and why do the stars twinkle at night?" she asked, her small voice cutting through the quiet night.
Emily leaned closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Well, there's a magical legend," she began, "that says the moon and stars watch over children at night to make sure they get plenty of rest. You see, if children don't sleep well, the sun struggles to rise the next day."
Gabriela's eyes widened with awe. "Really? What does the moon do?" she asked eagerly. "The moon," Emily replied, "shines bright to help you sleep, and the stars twinkle to soothe your dreams. This way, the sun can rise bright and sunny the next day."
Gabriela snuggled deeper under her covers, her mind alight with the magic of the story. "I want the sun to shine bright tomorrow," she whispered. "Then ask the moon to help you sleep," Emily suggested, brushing a stray curl from Gabriela's face.
Gabriela closed her eyes, her voice a mere murmur, "Thank you, moon and stars, for taking care of the sun." As she drifted into a sea of dreams, a smile graced her lips, and the room settled into a serene silence, the promise of a bright new day hanging in the air.
