Charlie Jinglejack trudged through the snow, his tool belt jangling and boots crunching along a perfectly swept walkway. Jack, his mighty reindeer companion, padded beside him, breath puffing in silvery clouds. "We’ve got a full checklist today, Jack. Those lamposts won’t polish themselves, and if one bulb’s out, Mrs. Claus will spot it a mile away!"
"Mmmrrrff," Jack grunted, lowering his impressive antlers so Charlie could climb onto the handle on his harness and reach a flickering light. Charlie steadied himself, screwdriver in hand, and twisted open the lamp’s cap. "Easy there, partner. Let’s see if it’s the bulb or the wiring this time," he mused, squinting in concentration.
"Now, what did I tell you about chewing on wires, Jack?" Charlie teased, ruffling Jack’s thick mane. "Hrrmph, not me! That’s the snow-mice," Jack replied with a snort and a roll of his black eyes. With a chuckle, Charlie set to work, hands deftly untangling the mess and screwing in a fresh, glowing bulb.
"Uh-oh, Charlie, look!" Charlie glanced up, his eyes widening at the swaying lights. "We can’t have a blackout on parade day. Let’s hustle, Jack!" In a flurry of snow and jingling tools, the pair scrambled to secure the line, Charlie perched once more atop Jack’s steady back.
Charlie surveyed their handiwork, pride shining in his eyes. "Just in time, partner. The North Pole’s never looked brighter," he said, clapping Jack on the shoulder. "Ready for Santa’s big night?" "With you by my side, Jack, we’re ready for anything," he replied, grinning beneath his sandy beard.
Charlie Jinglejack and Jack stand side by side, watching as Christmas magic unfolds across the grounds they’ve tended with care. "Another year, another Christmas—glowing just right," Charlie murmured, heart full as the first sleigh bells rang out across the snowy night.
