Timmy blinked awake and stretched, listening to the quiet hum of the morning. He could hear his little sister giggling in the next room, and the smell of pancakes drifted from the kitchen downstairs. He said a prayer that he would have a good day and make good choices.
Timmy went downstairs and ate up his pancakes. He carried his empty plate to the counter, but he noticed crumbs he had left behind. He paused, thinking, “Should I just leave them, or should I clean up?” In the quiet of his heart, Timmy felt a soft, loving whisper. Jesus seemed to say, "Choose Me. Be helpful and kind." Smiling, Timmy wiped away the crumbs and felt proud.
Just then Timmy's dog came running in from outside. He was running so fast that he slid right into the tall castle. Down, down, down went all the blocks. Timmy felt a hot spark of anger and wanted to hit and yell at his dog. But as he looked at his dog's worried eyes, the quiet whisper returned. Jesus whispered, "Choose Me. Forgive and love." Taking a deep breath, Timmy hugged his dog instead.
When Timmy's mom said it was time to clean up, Timmy wanted to yell “No!” and start crying; but he pauses, listening for the soft voice he’s heard all day. Jesus gently whispers, "Choose Me. Use kind words." Timmy takes a deep breath and says, "Okay, Mommy! Can I please have a little help cleaning up?" His mom smiles and helps him, making it feel less like a chore.
Timmy thinks back on his day, remembering each moment he listened for Jesus’s whisper. He feels warm and loved, knowing he can always listen to Jesus whenever he has a choice to make. Closing his eyes, Timmy whispers, "Thank you, Jesus, for helping me choose You."
