Dory awoke with a start, her fins twitching in excitement. The coral around her was lit up with the soft colors of dawn, and the sea was alive with the gentle hum of the morning. She quickly swam to the room where the festive coral tree stood, decorated with sparkling shells and twinkling seaweed.
Jennie, Dory's mother, was already up, arranging some of the decorations. Her father, Charlie, joined them, his face beaming with joy.
"Good morning, sleepyhead!"
"Morning, Mom! Morning, Dad! Is it time to open presents yet?"
"Almost, just waiting for your friends to arrive," he replied, gesturing towards the entrance where the first guests were arriving.
Nemo and Flounder were the first to arrive, their faces glowing with anticipation.
"Hey, Dory! Merry Christmas!"
"I can't wait to see what human treasures we find this year!" laughed Flounder, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
With everyone gathered, Hank the octopus joined in, his tentacles deftly managing multiple tasks at once.
"Alright, let's see what bizarre gifts the humans have sent us this time," he chuckled, passing out the presents.
Dory tore open her gift, revealing a glittering shell with a delicate pattern.
"Wow, look at this!" she exclaimed, holding it up for everyone to see.
Nemo discovered a vibrant sea sponge, its colors more intense than any coral they had seen.
"This is amazing!" he said, turning it over in his fins. Meanwhile, Flounder found a mysterious, singing starfish that hummed a melody whenever it was touched.
"This one is going to be a hit at parties," he joked, causing a ripple of laughter.
As the morning wore on, the friends shared stories about their favorite Christmas memories.
"Each year these gifts remind us of how connected we are, even to the world above," Jennie mused.
Dory nodded, her heart full of gratitude and joy.
"I love our Christmas traditions," she said, looking around at her friends and family, all gathered in their underwater wonderland. They all agreed, knowing that this day was special, not just for the gifts, but for the love and laughter that filled the sea around them.
