Lila sighed as she stared at the book in her lap, her fingers tracing over the colorful illustrations. Cosmo nudged her hand gently with his nose, as if encouraging her to keep trying. "I wish I could read like the big kids," she murmured, glancing at Cosmo with a hint of frustration.

Cosmo bumbled to his feet, trotting over to a small pile of books. With a mischievous wag of his tail, he pawed at one until it fell open on the floor. Lila laughed, her eyes lighting up. "Alright, alright," she giggled, "Let's see what adventure you've picked for us today."

"Once upon a time," she read, pausing to glance at Cosmo, who listened intently, his head tilted in curiosity. Lila smiled, feeling a surge of confidence with her loyal companion by her side.

"I can do this," Lila whispered, her determination growing with each sentence. Cosmo barked softly in agreement, his tail thumping against the floor in approval.

"We did it, Cosmo," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck in a grateful hug. Cosmo licked her cheek, his eyes twinkling with joy at her accomplishment.

Lila yawned, snuggling against Cosmo's warm fur. "Tomorrow, we'll read even more," she promised, her eyelids growing heavy with the promise of dreams yet to come.
