Dena hopped on one foot as she hurried to put on her shoes, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Today was the long drive across the island—a day she’d been waiting for since attending the Pink for Purity seminar at school. On her dresser, the pearl earrings seemed like tiny trophies, waiting for her to claim them. "Mia, hurry up! Mama’s ready!" she called, excitement bubbling in her voice.
Mia wiggled onto the backseat, her laughter filling the air as Dena slid in beside her. The car’s leather seats were cool and smooth, and the dashboard glimmered in the sunlight. "Seatbelts, girls! And Dena, what game are we playing today?" their mother asked, turning to catch their eager faces in the rearview mirror.
"I know! Let’s play the affirmations game," she announced, glancing at Mia with a grin. "What’s that?" Mia asked, hugging her bunny close. "It’s when we say positive things to ourselves—like magic words that help us believe in who we are," Dena explained. "Ooh, I like that! Who’s going first?" Mama chimed in, her eyes twinkling as she turned onto the highway.
"I’ll start," Dena declared proudly. "If you can’t find a way through something, it’s not a no—it’s just not yet." "That’s a good one!" Mia cheered, clapping her hands. "How about: Giving up is a monster. If you let it win, you’ll never know what you’re capable of." The car filled with a sense of warmth and encouragement, each affirmation floating like a gentle breeze.
"Your eyes are mirrors to your world. Keep shining bright," Dena said, her voice softer now. "Never believe in the negativity around you. Stay positive and move forward," Mia added with conviction. "Remember, if you feel like the world hates you, just know that God loves you," Mama said gently, her words a safe embrace as they rolled over the hills.
Dena paused, looking back at the winding road they’d traveled. "The road to success might be long and bumpy, but focus on the destination, not just the journey," she whispered, feeling stronger than ever. As the family spread their picnic, the affirmations lingered in the air, wrapping them in a bright, unbreakable bond—a reminder that no matter what challenges came, they could always find strength in each other and in the words they carried in their hearts.
