Miss Brown stands by the bus door, her wide-brimmed hat shading her smiling face.
Miss Roschell, wearing sunglasses and a light scarf, gently ushers the children off the bus one by one.
"Welcome to the desert, Shark Class! Who’s ready to meet some new animal friends?"
"Let’s stay close together and remember to drink lots of water,"
One brave child steps forward and reaches out, patting the camel’s soft nose.
"Camels can carry us across the desert,"
"Who wants to try sitting on a camel’s back for a photo?"
Miss Brown points out small desert plants peeking through the sand.
"Look at these tough little plants! They live here even when it’s very hot,"
"Can you feel how warm the sand is with your hands?"
Miss Roschell kneels down and speaks softly.
"Scorpions like to hide under rocks during the day. We must look with our eyes, not with our hands,"
"What other desert animals do you think we might see today?"
"Adventures make us hungry! What was your favorite part so far?"
"After our snack, we’ll look for animal footprints in the sand,"
"Thank you, desert friends, for an amazing safari,"
"Let’s remember today every time we see a picture of a camel or a scorpion,"
