Dora and Boots strolled along the winding forest trail, their flashlights barely piercing the thickening mist. The woods seemed quieter than usual, except for the soft rustling of leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl. Suddenly, a pale, floating figure with shimmering white robes and glowing eyes darted from behind an ancient oak, letting out a high-pitched wail. "Dora, did you see that?!" "Boots, run! It’s a ghost!" Without another word, they spun around and sprinted back down the path, hearts pounding in their chests.
Dora and Boots burst into the clearing, breathing hard, eyes wide with fright. They spotted Geo Umizoomi, their clever and resourceful friend, tinkering with a gadget near a cluster of bluebells. They wasted no time, rushing over. "Geo, you won’t believe it—we just saw a ghost in the woods! It chased us!" "It was so scary, Geo! What should we do?"
Geo Umizoomi listened carefully, nodding with a spark of excitement in his eyes. "Don’t worry, friends! If that ghost likes scaring others, let’s give him a taste of his own medicine. We can dress up as ghosts and surprise him right back!" Dora and Boots exchanged nervous glances, then started to smile. "But how do we look like real ghosts?" "Leave it to me—I’ll make us the best ghost costumes ever!"
With their costumes on—flowing white sheets, glowing flashlights under their chins, and painted faces—Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi crept silently through the undergrowth. The ghost hovered, looking for someone else to spook, when suddenly eerie voices echoed all around. "Oooooo! Who dares to scare in our haunted woods?" "Begone, little ghost, or we’ll haunt you too!" The ghost’s eyes grew wide with alarm, and he began to tremble.
The ghost let out a startled shriek and sped off through the woods, not daring to look back. "Looks like our plan worked perfectly!" "He was even more scared than we were!" Dora laughed, relief washing over her, and the friends shared a triumphant group hug in the pale moonlight.
Dora and Boots hurried home, still buzzing with excitement. Dora couldn’t wait to tell her mother everything. "Mamá, you won’t believe what happened! We saw a ghost, but with Geo Umizoomi’s help, we scared him away by being even scarier ghosts ourselves!" Dora’s mother smiled, hugging her tightly. "Yay! We did it, Boots!"
