Dora and Boots wandered along a winding path, their flashlights casting shaky beams through the darkness. Suddenly, a pale, glowing figure floated from behind a mossy boulder, its eyes wide and shimmering like silver coins. The ghost hovered closer, making the air feel icy cold. Dora and Boots froze, their hearts pounding as the apparition drifted directly toward them.
"D-Dora, do you see that?"
"¡Ay caramba! It's a ghost, Boots! Run!"
With adrenaline fueling their legs, Dora and Boots sprinted through the trees, branches whipping at their arms as they dashed away from the ghostly figure. Their breaths came in ragged gasps, and they barely noticed the tiny lights of fireflies flickering overhead. They burst into a small clearing where their friend, Geo Umizoomi, was examining a glowing map spread out on a tree stump.
"Geo! We just saw a ghost! It chased us all the way from the old boulder!"
"A ghost? Don't worry, Dora and Boots, I have an idea to help!"
Geo Umizoomi quickly gathered supplies, remembering stories told by Mr. Owl and Bubble Puppy from past Halloween nights. He handed Dora and Boots some white sheets and glow sticks, explaining his spooky plan. As they dressed up, memories of how Mr. Owl and Bubble Puppy had once scared Bubble Guppies, Franklin the Turtle, and his friends filled their minds with excitement—and courage.
"This is just like Halloween! Remember how scared everyone was of the pretend ghosts?"
"Yeah! Let's do it, amigos. We'll scare that ghost right back!"
Draped in their ghostly disguises, Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi crept back toward the haunted boulder. They made spooky wailing sounds, waving their arms and glowing eerily in the pale light. The real ghost, startled by the sudden appearance of what looked like a family of ghosts, let out a squeak of terror and turned tail, floating away as fast as it could.
"Look, it's working! The ghost is scared of us!"
"We did it! Bye-bye, ghost!"
As the first hints of sunlight crept through the branches, Dora and her friends danced around, celebrating their victory. They shared stories about their favorite Halloween nights, laughing about all the old scares and tricks. The forest felt friendly once more, the air warm and safe.
"Yay! We scared away the ghost, just like Mr. Owl and Bubble Puppy did! Let's go tell my mom what happened!"
Dora rushed home, her friends following close behind. She burst through the door, eyes shining with excitement, as her mom looked up from the kitchen.
"Mamá! You won't believe what happened tonight! We saw a ghost, but we scared it away with our own spooky costumes!"
Her mom smiled, proud and relieved, giving Dora a warm hug as everyone gathered around the table to share the tale of their haunted adventure.
