Dora and Boots hop off their little red car, backpacks slung over their shoulders. They both feel a mix of excitement and nervousness—Dora has told Boots stories about Aunt Dora’s house, but it’s their first time visiting after dark. Crickets sing and shadows stretch long across the porch as they step up to the door, knuckles poised to knock.
As they tiptoe through the hallway, Boots clutches Dora’s hand. "Dora, did you see that curtain move?" The wind seems to whisper through the corridors, and a sudden thump upstairs makes both friends jump. Dora whispers that maybe it’s just Aunt Dora getting ready for bed, but neither feels sure.

Dora and Boots gasp, hearts racing. "Let’s get out of here, Boots! Something’s not right!" They bolt toward the door, stumbling over each other, flinging it open, and running into the night air, breaths puffing out in frantic clouds.
Dora pulls out her cell phone, hands shaking, and dials Geo Umizoomi, her friend and expert at solving mysteries. "Geo, we’re scared! Something strange is happening at Aunt Dora’s house!" In moments, Geo Umizoomi, smart and resourceful, arrives with his trusty magnifying glass and glowing blue flashlight.

Geo Umizoomi inspects the slipper and laughs softly. "Looks like someone was getting ready for bed in a hurry. Let’s check upstairs for Aunt Dora." Together, they climb the creaky steps, their courage growing with every careful footstep.

Aunt Dora is gentle and a little forgetful, her glasses perched on her nose. "Oh my, I didn’t mean to scare you, dears! I was trying to find my book in the attic and must’ve dropped my slipper. Come in, I just made cocoa!" The tension melts away as Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi join her for a cozy night, laughter echoing through the once-scary house.
