Dora woke up to the chirping of birds, rubbing her eyes as she noticed today’s date circled in red on her calendar. She remembered what her mamá had told her the night before—it was the day of her doctor’s appointment. The air felt fresh, and a gentle breeze fluttered the curtains as Dora sat up, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"Today’s the day! I hope everything goes well at the doctor," she whispered to herself, hugging her stuffed monkey, Boots.
Mamá, gentle and reassuring, reminds Dora to stay calm and brave. Colorful flowers line the walkway, and the sound of distant laughter floats from the playground nearby.
"Remember, mi amor, the doctor is here to help you feel better. We’ll be together the whole time,"
"Gracias, Mamá. I’m a little scared, but I know I can do it!"
Boots grins, offering a comforting pat on Dora’s shoulder.
As Dora, Mamá, and Boots enter, a friendly nurse with a colorful badge greets them. The nurse’s warm smile helps Dora relax as she leads them to a cozy corner with picture books.
Nurse Rosa, always upbeat, bends down to Dora’s level and says,
"Hola, Dora! Are you ready to see the doctor? We have some fun stickers for brave explorers today!"
"Sí! I’m ready, Nurse Rosa," Dora replies, trying her best to sound confident.
Dr. Ramirez, calm and kind, greets Dora with a gentle handshake.
"Hello, Dora! I hear you’ve been having some tummy aches. Let’s take a look and make sure you feel much better, okay?"
"Okay, Dr. Ramirez. Will it hurt?"
"I’ll be very gentle, and I’ll explain everything I do. You’re very brave to come today," she replies, as Dora nods and climbs onto the examination table.
Dora changes into a small hospital gown, clutching Boots for comfort. Mamá sits by her side, holding her hand. The doctor and nurses reassure her, explaining each step with care.
"Dora, we’re going to help your tummy feel better. You’ll get some special medicine to help you sleep, and when you wake up, Mamá will be right here,"
"Will Boots be here too?"
"Of course, Boots can stay and watch over you," Nurse Rosa says, pinning a smiley-face sticker to Boots’ paw.
Dora wakes up to see Mamá smiling beside her, holding a cup of apple juice. Boots sits on her pillow, looking even more huggable than before. Dr. Ramirez and Nurse Rosa enter, clapping softly.
"You did it, Dora! You were so brave. We’re all proud of you,"
"Thank you, everyone! I feel much better," Dora beams, hugging Boots as her friends and family celebrate her bravery with songs and smiles.
