Emily bounced energetically on her bed, her eyes wide with excitement as she peered over at her slumbering brother. "Callan, wake up! It's Easter!" she exclaimed, her voice brimming with anticipation. Callan, with his hair tousled, rubbed his sleepy eyes and stretched. "Is it time for chocolate?" he asked, a hopeful grin forming on his face.
Isabelle and Corbin stood by the doorway, their smiles as warm as the spring morning. "Happy Easter, my loves!" Mom greeted, her voice a melody of affection. Dad gestured towards the backyard. "Your Easter baskets are hidden outside. You have to find them!" he announced, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Emily dashed outside, her feet barely touching the ground, while Callan followed, enchanted by a butterfly fluttering nearby. "Callan, come on! We have to find our baskets!" Emily urged, her eyes scanning the garden for hidden treasures. Callan clapped his hands in delight. "But look! Pretty butterfly!" he exclaimed, momentarily forgetting the task at hand.
Emily squealed with joy, reaching for her basket hidden among the leaves. "I found mine!" she announced triumphantly, her eyes shining with delight as she examined the colorful eggs and candy nestled inside. Callan looked around, his small face scrunched in concentration. "Where’s mine?" he asked, a hint of worry in his voice.
Emily set her basket down and began looking for Callan’s treasure. She peeked inside flower pots and finally spotted something under the slide. "Callan, over here!" she called, her voice bright with enthusiasm. Callan ran over, his eyes widening as he saw his basket. "My basket!" he exclaimed, hugging it tightly.
Corbin patted Emily's head, pride evident in his smile. "Good job, Emily. You helped your brother instead of just enjoying your own basket. That was kind and loving." Isabelle nodded in agreement. "Today, we celebrate Easter because Jesus gave us the greatest gift—His love and sacrifice. Just like He thought of others before Himself, you helped Callan before thinking only about your own happiness." Emily beamed, her heart full of warmth. "I just wanted to help him be happy, like Jesus helps us." Callan hugged Emily, his gratitude shining in his eyes. "You're the best sister!" As they sat together, Mom and Dad reminded them that Easter is about love, forgiveness, and the joy of helping others.
