Etta sprang out of bed, her heart fluttering with excitement. Sunday school was her favorite time of the week, a chance to learn and play with her friends John and Suzie. She quickly dressed in her best Sunday outfit, a bright yellow dress that her mother had lovingly ironed the night before.
"Mom, I'm ready!" Etta called out, her voice echoing down the hallway.
Etta skipped towards the church, her pigtails bouncing with each step. She spotted John and Suzie waiting by the entrance, their faces lighting up as they saw her.
"Etta! Over here!" John waved enthusiastically.
"I can't wait to see what Miss Clara has planned for us today," Suzie added, her eyes shining with anticipation.
Miss Clara welcomed the children with a warm smile. Etta, John, and Suzie settled into their seats, eager to begin the day's activities.
"Today, we're going to learn about Noah's Ark through a fun craft project," Miss Clara announced, holding up a large sheet of rainbow-colored paper.
"I love rainbows!" Suzie exclaimed, grabbing her scissors and glue.
Etta carefully cut out a pair of giraffes, her tongue peeking out in concentration. John was busy assembling an elephant, its trunk curled playfully.
"Look at my elephant, Etta!" John said proudly.
"That's amazing, John! I'm going to make a zebra next," Etta replied, her eyes twinkling with joy.
With their crafts complete, Miss Clara gathered everyone for storytime. She opened a large, illustrated Bible and began to read the story of Noah and the great flood.
"It's so incredible how everyone fit into the ark," Suzie whispered, her imagination soaring.
"And how they trusted in God to keep them safe," Etta added thoughtfully.
As the children gathered for their closing prayer, Etta felt a deep sense of gratitude for her friends and the lessons they shared. They held hands, their voices rising in a harmonious chorus.
"See you next Sunday, Etta!" John called out as they parted ways.
"I can't wait!" Etta replied, her heart full of joy and anticipation for the adventures to come.
