Miss Summer watched as Willow entered the room, her tiny hand clutching her mother's. Willow was a curious two-year-old, her eyes wide but unseeing. The other children glanced over, their interest piqued by the new addition to their group. "Good morning, everyone," Miss Summer began, her voice bright and welcoming.
Miss Summer sat down with the children in a circle, Willow beside her. "Today, we have a special new friend joining us," she announced. Willow smiled, her fingers brushing the textured patterns on the mat. "This is Willow, and she's going to show us how she explores the world in her own unique way."
Willow moved cautiously, her hand gliding over the surfaces of the nearby table. She paused, her head tilting slightly as she listened to the chatter of her classmates. Miss Summer[/@ch_1_d] "Can you hear the music playing softly in the background, [@ch_2]Willow?"[/@ch_1_d] she asked. "Yes, it's like a gentle breeze," Willow replied, her face lighting up with delight.
Miss Summer encouraged the children to gather around a sensory table filled with various objects. "Let's help Willow explore these things using touch and smell," she suggested. Jake, a spirited boy with an infectious laugh, picked up a pinecone, placing it in Willow's hand. "It's prickly, isn't it?" he asked eagerly. "Yes, and it smells like the trees outside," Willow responded, her fingers tracing its contours.
The children continued to offer objects to Willow, each excited to be part of her exploration. Lily, a quiet girl with a gentle nature, handed Willow a soft feather. "It's so soft, like a kitten's fur," she murmured. "I love how it tickles my nose," Willow giggled, her laughter infectious.
Miss Summer gathered the children once more, Willow nestled comfortably among them. "Thank you all for being such wonderful friends to Willow," she said warmly. Ethan, a bright-eyed boy with a mischievous grin, raised his hand. "Willow, can we be friends even if we see things differently?" he asked earnestly. "Of course, because we can share all the beautiful things we feel," Willow replied, her smile as radiant as the light streaming through the window.
