"Emma, it's time for bed," Mom, with her warm smile and gentle voice, calls from the kitchen. Emma looks up, the thought of bedtime not as enticing as the world she creates with her toys.
"Mom, can I ask you something?" Emma whispers, her eyes reflecting the moon's glow. "Of course, sweetheart. What's on your mind?" Mom replies, smoothing her daughter's hair.
"Is it okay if I call Tom 'Dad'? I know he's not my real dad, but he's always there for me," Emma asks, her voice tinged with uncertainty. Mom smiles, her heart filling with love for her thoughtful daughter.
"Tom loves you very much, and it's perfectly okay to call him 'Dad' if you feel that's right. Families are about love, not just biology," Mom explains, her voice soft and reassuring.
"Goodnight, Dad," Emma says, her voice clear and confident. Tom beams, his heart swelling with happiness as he gently closes the door.
"Family is where the heart feels at home," she murmurs to her teddy bear, a content smile gracing her face as she dreams of sunny days and loving moments.
