The little girl, Lily, lay trembling under her blanket, her eyes squeezed shut to block out the noise. Tears trickled down her cheeks as she hugged her stuffed dog, Scooby, tightly. Lily whispered to Scooby, sharing her fears and dreams, wishing she wasn't so alone.
"You're never alone, Lily," a small voice said. Startled, Lily glanced around, realizing it was Scooby speaking. Scooby continued, "I'm always here to help you, to play with you, and to listen to your secrets."
Lily smiled at Scooby, feeling braver than she had before. "It's okay to tell a trusted adult at school what's happening," Scooby advised gently. Lily nodded, realizing the truth in his words. She decided to speak to her favorite teacher the next day, knowing she needed help.
Lily took a deep breath and approached her teacher, Ms. Harper. "Can I talk to you about something important?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. The warmth in Ms. Harper's eyes reassured her, and Lily shared her story, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders.
Lily couldn't believe how much her life had changed. In this new home, there was no more yelling, only happiness and love. As she twirled around, Scooby sat beside her, a silent guardian. She realized that Scooby hadn't truly spoken; he had helped her find her own voice.
Lily felt grateful for the courage she had found, the friends who had supported her, and the new life she was building. "Thank you, Scooby," she whispered, knowing that while he might not speak, his presence would always remind her of her strength.
