Mia stood with her head down, clutching her backpack tightly. The jeers of her classmates felt like arrows piercing through her. "Why can't they just leave me alone?" she murmured to herself, her voice barely audible. She wished she could disappear into the ground beneath her feet.
Mia's mother wrapped an arm around her daughter. "I know it's hard, sweetheart," she said softly. "But there might be a place that can help you find some peace and strength, Paradise Kids Australia."
Mia looked around, her eyes wide with apprehension. She clutched her sketchbook closer, feeling out of place. That's when she noticed Liam, a mentor with a friendly smile and kind eyes, approaching her. "Hi, Mia! I'm Liam. Do you like to draw?" he asked, gesturing to her sketchbook.
Mia hesitated before nodding. "I do, but I'm not very good," she admitted. "That's okay," Liam replied with a reassuring smile. "Art isn't about being good. It's about expressing how you feel. Want to give it a try?" With cautious strokes, Mia began to draw, slowly losing herself in the colors and shapes.
Mia walked beside Liam, feeling the soothing rhythm of the forest. "Nature has a way of healing," Liam said, pointing to a cluster of wildflowers. "Just like these flowers, we all have the strength to grow, no matter where we're planted." Mia smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her.
Mia looked around at her classmates, her heart steady. When a familiar group of kids approached, she took a deep breath. "I like my drawings," she said firmly, meeting their eyes. Mia knew now that she had a place where she belonged and people who believed in her. She was ready to face whatever came her way.
